Relationships with two people in recovery have a lot of cliches and a lot of stigmas. There are false expectations and disappointments because of the disease and realities of addiction and recovery.
Sam and I entered with our eyes wide open. The thing that works for us and gives us the power to move forward when struggles consume our minds, is our dedication to lay our burdens at the feet of our Higher Power. For us, it is God. We need a living powerful creator for us to thrive and know our direction.

I see Sam as an angel in my life. Her world tried to kill her and cut off her wings. I needed her partnership to move forward to where I am called.
When she can't fly, I'll carry her. When I get tired, she hugs me a little closer.
