Today, 7 years ago, I experienced a motivating moment.
It wasn't a colossal award or a grand entrance.
It wasn't a big promotion.
7 years ago today, I walked through the front door of my friend's restaurant at around 8 am.
My friend has dual citizenship.
He raised his younger brother while gaining the skills to own a restaurant one day.
With $2,500, he opened his first location and expanded it over the years to 2 restaurants that had become key destinations for many in Western New York.
On this day, he was just my friend.
On this day, I was coming back from a challenging season in life.
My friend saw me walk through the door.
He hugged me and said, "You look good Homie. Let's get to work."
I have received many awards in my professional career.
None of my previous awards drove me forward more than that hug and that comment at an uncertain stage in my journey.
In this market and this world, we all face uncertainty.
Awards are temporary, especially in sales.
But, picking each other up and motivating each other to move forward through challenges, barriers, uncertainty, and fear lasts a lifetime.
It's a game changer.
If you are working through challenges today.
You look good Homie.
Get to work.
